County Mayor Robert Weinroth gave an update on preparations for Tropical Storm Nicole. Joining him were Vice-Mayor Gregg Weiss, Commissioner Melissa McKinlay, Commissioner Maria Sachs, County Administrator Verdenia Baker, PBC Schools Superintendent Mike Burke and Department of Health Director Alina Alonso.
Palm Beach County remains under a Hurricane Warning. Mandatory evacuations for Zones A and B will be in effect tomorrow at 7 a.m. This includes mobile homes, barrier islands and low lying areas. To find out if you are in an evacuation zone, check out the know your zone app at www. pbcgov.com/hurricane.
Emergency shelters will open Wednesday at 7 a.m. Those shelters are Palm Beach Gardens High School, Independence Middle School, Palm Beach Central High School, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary, Park Vista High School, Lake Shore Middle school and Pahokee Middle School.
Special Needs Shelter require pre-registration. Call 561-712-6400 for more information. The pet friendly shelter at West Boynton Recreation Center will also be open. If you plan on going to a shelter, make sure to bring your own bedding, medications and necessities.
Palm Beach County Offices will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
Palm Tran will suspend service at Noon on Wednesday. This includes regular service, Palm Tran Connection and the Go Glades service.
All Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County facilities and operations will be closed Wednesday. A decision for Thursday’s waste collection will be announced by 3 p.m. Wednesday.
