Delray Beach had plenty of reasons to celebrate on Tuesday (3/19/2024) with the grand opening of newly refurbished public tennis courts at Pompey Park with our hometown hero Coco Gauff.
The renovations are all part of the U.S. Open Legacy Initiative, created to celebrate Coco Gauff's 2023 U.S. Open women's singles title.
The Pompey Park courts are the first project completed as part of the initiative and was picked by Gauff due to her personal history to the park.
Gauff is a Delray Beach native, growing up playing on the Pompey Park courts as a child, and in case you haven't noticed, the geographic coordinates of the courts are featured on her signature tennis shoe.
