A Florida couple found a message in a bottle on the shore of a river and instead of simply using it for a social media opportunity, they decided they would do some good and track down the man who penned the message 39 years before.

Sheila and Teben Pyles were lending a hand with a neighborhood cleanup in South Jacksonville, Florida in February of last year when they said found an old-looking bottle had washed up on the shore of the St. Johns River.

On the outside of the bottle, it read: "look inside," so the Pyles opened it and found a message.

The message read: "If you are the person that found this bottle, please send a note to Ron Clark."

The message included a Texas address, however, the couple feared that the bottle was decades old, and the address might be outdated.

After months of research, the Pyles thought they successfully found Ron Clark who now lived in Mebane, N.C.

Sheila posted pictures of the bottle along with the message to a Mebane community group on Facebook in December with hopes of getting the man's attention.

In the end, it turns out that the Ron Clark who lives in Mebane is Ron Clark Sr. and his son, Ron Clark Jr., wrote the message 39 years earlier while he was staying with his grandparents in Florida.

The couple revealed that they are planning to send the bottle containig the message back to Clark Jr., who still lives in Texas.
