NASA is scheduled to head back to the moon today (8/29/22) and the doughnut dynamos over at Krispy Kreme are celebrating with a fitting new doughnut.

In honor of The Artemis I launch today, Krispy Kreme has cooked up an out-of-this-world doughnut that’s available for one day only. And that day is today.

According to the company, the “Artemis Moon Doughnut” is stuffed with a cheesecake-flavored filling, a nod to the old adage that the moon is made of cheese, topped with cookies and creme frosting and a swirl of cookie pieces made to look like the moon.

Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme’s global chief brand officer said, “The Artemis I mission is a proud moment, and we are in awe of the amazing Americans behind the world’s most powerful rocket, so we created these delicious doughnuts to enjoy while you watch the launch.”

UPDATE: The Artemis I launch today was postponed due to engine troubles.
