Jim Carrey Reveals He Did Not Want To Appear on The Weeknd's 'Dawn FM'

If you listened to The Weeknd’s album, “Dawn FM” you may have noticed a familiar voice on some of the tracks...other than Abel's. That's because actor Jim Carrey was recruited to voice several features on the album, but it turns out he wasn't initially keen on working on the project.

Jim Carrey revealed to Entertainment Tonight that he initially didn’t want to work on The Weeknd’s album, “Dawn FM.”
Carrey is the featured voice on the album, giving a radio-style intro for the album, and sets up the song “Out of Time” and the outro, “Phantom Regret.”

Carrey revealed, “The Mask was the very first movie he ever saw and kind of inspired him to want to be in this thing. And boy, did he ever get in this thing in a big way… He put it to me that he was doing this thing that was the radio station in purgatory, and I didn’t want to work and I was like, ‘I love you, but I don’t want to do any work.’”

While Carrey initially told The Weeknd he didn’t want to take part in the project, he said that he found himself waking up in the middle of the night with concepts for the album.

The Weeknd was so excited about what Carrey had come up with that he insisted that he be a part of the album.

After the release of “Dawn FM,” Carrey praised The Weekend, and the singer called Carrey’s involvement “kismet”, so I guess it was a good idea after all.
