This man is the reason #FloridaMan ever became a trend. A man in Central Florida stole a jet ski, but because he couldn't get it started, he didn't get very far in his attempt to flee from deputies on Sunday (6/5/22).
Investigators with the Volusia Sheriff's Office said that even though the man could only float on the jet ski, they needed some help in apprehending him from a family that was at a dock in Ormond Beach.
In the video captured by a deputy's body cam, the family can be seen assisting deputies by taking them out on the Intracoastal Waterway in their boat so officers could capture the fleeing suspect.
That's when authorities arrested 48-year-old Ronald Williams.
Authorities successfully reunited the stolen jet ski with its owner, said "thank you" to the hero family who assisted in the capture, and took Williams in.
Williams is now facing charges of trespassing and grand theft of a motor vehicle.
