DC Films President: Amber Heard's Chemistry with Jason Momoa "Wasnt There"

The President of DC Films at Warner Bros., Walter Hamada, was called to testify in the famously ongoing defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard this week and he did confirm that the studio considered replacing Heard in the upcoming Aquaman sequel, but not for the reasons she alleged.

Heard starred as Mera in the first Aquaman film in 2018 and continued on to portray the role in both Justice League and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

During Amer's testimony last week, she claimed that she’s "not sure" if she’s in the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom "at all" and expressed that she believes the studio cut “a bunch” of her scenes.

During his testimony, Hamada confessed that the real issue with Heard was actually the chemistry, or lack there of, with the film's star Jason Momoa.

According to Variety, Hamada said, “They didn’t have a lot of chemistry together. Editorially they were able to make that relationship work in the first movie, but there was a concern that it took a lot of effort to get there… You know it when you see it, and the chemistry wasn’t there.”

Hamada explained that chemistry between actors can be created in post-production, using “movie magic,” like the film’s score.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is scheduled to hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
