In case you aren't celebrating with the love of your life this Valentine's Day, and maybe you find yourself in a relationship you are not so sure about, there's a new candy for Valentine's Day that just landed that might have your name all over it. Not literally.
You know those Sweethearts candies? They are the little "conversation heart" candies with messages like "Be Mine", however, this year, they're doing a version for single people who are caught up in "situationships."
According to Oxford English Dictionary, a situationship is defined as any "romantic or sexual relationship that is not considered to be formal or established." So, more or less, a hook-up that is not exclusive. The word made Oxford's shortlist for Word of the Year in 2023, but lost out to "rizz".
Sweethearts will sell limited-release boxes of "Situationship" hearts that look like their normal candies, except the words are blurry and hard to read. According to their press release, they are "literal mixed messages."
Their V.P. of marketing said, "The printing on Sweethearts isn't always perfect. This is our way of embracing those imperfections in a way that taps into pop culture."
You can get your hands on a box at SweetheartsCandies.com at 9:00 A.M. EST on January 8, 2024.
