Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo is setting his sights on a new audience that's not so strange to him after all. That's because Matarazzo is no stranger to Broadway, and this summer he is set to join the cast of the Tony-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen.
Matarazzo will be playing the supporting role of Evan Hansen's friend, Jared Kleinman, beginning July 19 at Broadway’s Music Box Theatre where the long-running musical is playing.
In a statement, the actor gushed, "Words could never express how truly honored I am to be a part of this company. This show has taught me so much about myself and to be able to participate in any capacity, let alone on Broadway, makes me want to melt. I am ecstatic to be back on stage and eternally grateful for the opportunity.”
Matarazzo first made his Broadway debut in the 2011 production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, returning to the big stage to debut in a 2014 Broadway production of Les Misérables.
