After months of struggles and a series of issues at the turtle rehabilitation facility that not only rehabilitates sea turtles but also educates the public on these beautiful creatures and ocean conservation, has suffered yet another blow. The president and CEO of Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach has resigned from his position on Tuesday (5/3/22).

According to Contact 5, a string of reoccurring problems at Loggerhead Marinelife Center in recent months, including poor water quality, a lawsuit from a former employee, and the resignation of its entire hospital staff, has led to Dr. Kyle Van Houtan resigning his position as the head of the rehabilitation center after less than a year in the position.
Loggerhead board chairman Brian Waxman said, "While we have been committed to supporting Dr. Van Houtan, we understand his decision, thank him for everything he has accomplished in his time with us, and wish him the very best," said
According to the facility, former County Administrator Bob Weisman and former CFO of Florida Jeff Atwater have stepped up to co-chair an Operational Improvement Committee upon Van Houtan's departure.
