Florida Highway Patrol was forced to temporarily close a major highway on Wednesday morning (4/27/22) due to a dangerous and bizarre traffic hazard...a massive 11-foot alligator.
Three separate Florida departments responded to the call of the road hazard; Florida Highway Patrol, Seminole County Sheriff's Office, and Oviedo Police Department all showed up on Wednesday morning when calls said an alligator was blocking State Road 417.
Police vehicles surrounded the massive reptile allowing officials to open a lane of traffic for drivers to continue to pass before the gator eventually traveled to the shoulder of the road and the highway was able to reopen.
Finally, a professional trapper from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was able to relocate the alligator away to safety and far from the highway.
