Like something straight out of a movie, a man identified as a New York mobster escaped federal custody in Orlando and has now been apprehended in South Florida.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, 64-year-old Dominic Taddeo was apprehended "without incident" Monday (4/4/22) morning in Hialeah, Florida.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons said Taddeo was in the final year of his sentence, as he was scheduled for release in February 2023. The mobster was staying at a federal halfway house near Orlando, and when he failed to return from an authorized appointment, he was placed on "escape status."
Back in 1992, Taddeo pleaded guilty to racketeering charges that were linked to the murders of three other mobsters.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, federal agents checked "multiple locations of interest for Taddeo within Florida before pursuing other leads throughout the rest of the country."
