If you were in the Martin County area this past weekend, you may have experienced some inclement weather, but did you witness a tornado touch down?
Jensen Beach resident, Rosie Shishkowsky said at approximately 4:30 PM, she was driving home from work when she spotted a funnel cloud.
Shishkowsky said the storm was in the area of Rio and Jensen Beach.
National Weather Service later confirmed on Friday evening (3/11/22) that a tornado indeed briefly touched down in the Rio neighborhood at about 4:24 PM, with winds estimated at 60-65 MPH.
According to the NWS, the "nearly stationary" tornado caused some damage, including downed tree branches and fences, and fortunately, there were no reports of injuries.
