Firefighters in Florida saved the day when they rescued a puppy found stuck in a storm drain at a Clewiston, Florida public park.
Resident Jay B. Neal said he was walking near his home in Clewiston, which borders Harlem Academy Park, when he heard what sounded like a dog whimpering.
"I kept hearing this dog whining and couldn't quite figure out where it was coming from," Neal told local news source, WBBH-TV.
Neal looked around the area until he found the dog trapped underground, below a heavy storm drain cover.
Clewiston Animal Services were called to the park, but were initially unable to retrieve the trapped pup. Clewiston Fire Department was contacted for assistance.
Soon, firefighters arrived and were successfully able to remove the drain cover and rescue the 2-year-old female canine.
The dog, fittingly named Stormy, was taken to a city shelter and examined by a veterinarian, who found her free of injury.
