A viral prank video on TikTok has duped and disappointed a Florida woman into visiting a North Carolina town that she expected to look like a picturesque Switzerland town.
TikToker Olivia Garcia explained that she and her family were driving through the Carolinas to catch a glance at the recent snowfall when she convinced them to make a pitstop in Gastonia, a town she had just seen in a viral TikTok from Zachary Keesee.
Keesee's video was part of a series he calls his "Not Carolina" series, featuring video footage of a trip he took to Switzerland, which he purposely misidentified as Gastonia
Garcia posted her TikTok showing the reality of Gastonia, which was a surprise.
"And then all of a sudden we get there, and it's just rundown gas stations -- like we had to go to the bathroom and there was no bathroom that worked in any of the gas stations," Garcia explained.
Plot twist: her reaction to the real Gastonia garnered the attention of Walker E. Reid III, the town's mayor, who invited both TikTokers to visit the town and give it another shot.
