Mysterious Monolith Appears In Fort Pierce

A mysterious monolith, similar to the one that showed up in Utah earlier this year, popped up in Fort Pierce.

Right now it's off N. 2nd Street, between Avenue D and A.E. Backus Avenue.

A monolith first appeared in the middle of the Utah desert about a month ago. State workers counting Big Horn sheep first discovered it.

The monolith mysteriously disappeared in the middle of the night a few weeks later. One of the people behind its removal, Sylvan Christensen, explained why on Instagram.

"The mystery was the infatuation and we want to use this time to unite people behind the real issues here-we are losing our public lands-things like this don't help," said Christensen.

The monolith on the Treasure Coast even has its own Facebook page.
