Guinea Pig Ice Cream Is Becoming A Cool New Treat In Ecuador

Guinea Pig Ice cream is the new foodie fav in Ecuador...

Thanks to an ex girlfriend of mine, I've known that people in Ecuador enjoy Guinea pigs for lunch. Over there it's known as "cuy" but now one vendor is taking things to another gastronomic level, serving guinea pigs as a cold dessert!

The stall owner is María del Carmen Pilapaña, whose offbeat offering inspires disbelief and laughter among first-time customers.

Apparently demand is growing and every week, the entrepreneur prepares 150 servings ($1 for a cone) of guinea pig ice cream.

For Pilapaña, guinea pig ice cream is just the beginning. She has new flavors in mind: crab, chicken and pork.
