Pre-Registration Not Needed At Pet-Friendly Shelter In Palm Beach County

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —Pre-registration for Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control's pet-friendly shelter will no longer be required.

According to county officials, Palm Beach County's pet-friendly shelter will be open for residents who reside in a mandatory evacuation zone, mobile home or sub-standard housing. The shelter is located at 6000 Northtree Boulevard in Lake Worth. Proof of residency is required.

Officials say once the shelter opens, guests will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Follow CBS 12 News' coverage of when those shelters will be opening.

All pets must be accompanied by only one owner, who will stay inside the shelter, according to officials. All other family members need to stay at the adjacent human shelter at Park Vista High School with the exception of single parents with children. Livestock and reptiles will not be accepted. Space is limited.
