New details regarding Ariana Grande's breakup and canceled engagement from Pete Davidson suggest Mac Miller's death may have been a factor.
On Sunday (October 14), TMZ broke the blindsiding report of the âGod is a Womanâ starâs sudden split from the Saturday Night Live comedian, to whom sheâd been engaged to marry since June. The initial story indicates Davidson and Grande had come to the realization that theyâre just not ready to take their relationship to the next level at this time, though it is still a possibility the couple may rekindle their romance in the future.
Now, sources reveal the Sweetener singer has been âin an incredibly dark placeâ ever since her ex-boyfriendâs suspected overdose in September, implying Millerâs death still has her in shambles. Grande ended her two-year relationship with the âSelf Careâ emcee back in May, citing his substance abuse woes as the reason for their breakup.
Grande later mourned her ex-boyfriend's loss on social media. âAlthough the two ended their relationship, Ariana always shared a deep connection with Mac and wanted nothing but the best for him," a source told Entertainment Tonight. "Ariana is very upset."
The 25-year-old subsequently began dating Davidson and became engaged in less than a monthâs time. Sources tell TMZ the tragedy hasn't allowed her to be fully invested in her new relationship, which Grande realizes now was rushed too fast.
âIt was way too much too soon,â a source told PEOPLE of their split. âItâs not shocking to anyone.â
Grande remains active on social media, though Davidson has since deactivated his social accounts. Neither party has yet to issue a statement.
