The Most Common Grammar Errors

I was a journalism major in college, and the one thing they made sure we perfected was utilizing proper grammar. Now, I realize that sometimes I'm off my game a little bit, but I do take pride in using the tools I was taught.

Microsoft compiled data from millions of its Word and Outlook users to come up with a list of the most common grammar errors.

The top ten errors include (click here for examples):

  • Leaving too many white spaces between words
  • Missing a comma
  • Missing a comma after an introductory phrase
  • Missing a hyphen
  • Incorrect subject-verb agreement
  • Incorrect capitalization
  • Mixing up possessive and plural forms
  • Incorrect agreement with noun phrases
  • Commonly confused words
  • Incorrect verb form after auxiliary
