Voluntary Recall Has Been Released on Evanger's Dog Food

Evanger's Dog & Cat Food has issued a voluntary recall on its 12-oz cans of Hunk of Beef wet dog food after a one dog passed away after consuming a can that had been contaminated.

The contaminant has been identified as pentobarbital, which can cause side effects such as:

  • drowsiness
  • dizziness
  • excitement
  • loss of balance
  • nausea
  • in extreme cases, can cause death

 The effected lot numbers are as follows:  1816E03HB, 1816E04HB, 1816E06HB, 1816E07HB, and 1816E13HB with an expiration date of June 2020.

Along with Florida, the following states were distributed the batch that was contaminated: Washington, California, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, and Georgia.
