Florida Reporter Witnesses Exact Moment Power Goes Out in Hurricane Idalia

This week, Hurricane Idalia hit Florida early Wednesday (8/30/23) with 125 mph winds, unleashing devastation along a stretch of the Gulf Coast.

The storm submerged homes and vehicles, turned streets into rivers, and left hundreds of thousands of residents without power before sweeping into Georgia.

Wednesday, as Hurricane Idalia was making landfall, a reporter was broadcasting live from Chiefland, Florida, when something shocking happened.

Reporter Forrest Saunders was on a street battling the elements when the local power went out, and everything went completely black.

Florida's own WTXL ABC 27 news in the Big Bend area, professionally continued on with their broadcast.
