Rapids Water Park first opened its gates on Memorial Day weekend in 1979 and ever since has been a staple for family-friendly fun in West Palm Beach. But one of the park's original rides, Old Yellar, will soon be retired to make room for a new attraction coming in Summer 2023.

The Old Yellar ride is a 4-acre attraction that has 4 water slides coming down a hill and sends riders plunging down 1600 feet of twists and turns on a foam mat.

The ride was one of the first fiberglass slides to be built in all of Florida, but out with the old and in with the new, because the slide will close, and the last day to ride Old Yellar will be August 14.

However, the park promises that the new ride that will be replacing Old Yellar will be Rapid's biggest and most thrilling attraction yet.

No other details have been released on the new ride, besides that, it is expected to open next August.
