Have you ever wondered what the pepperonis on your pizza would taste like if they were soaked in Pepsi first? No? Well, Pepsi has turned America’s favorite pizza topping on its head with its reveal of Pepsi-infused pepperoni and the world’s first Pepsi-Roni Pizza.
Pepsi teamed up with the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) Consulting, a business unit of The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), to create the uniquely flavored recipe.
The cola company and CIA Consulting say they used a Pepsi Zero Sugar reduction instead of the water typically used in the preparation of pepperoni to create the signature flavor.
Starting today, on National Pizza Party Day (Friday, May 20), pizza lovers in New York City can get their paws on a slice of the first Pepsi-Roni Pizza for free in Lower Manhattan, which is apparently the birthplace of pepperoni, exclusively at Made in New York Pizza West Village at 561 Hudson St. from11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (while supplies last).
But don't worry if you can’t make it to Manhattan! You can still enjoy the Pepsi and pepperoni pizza combo, plus, get your Pepsi comped if you ate it with a pizza, and you can do that in 2 ways:
You can share a photo of yourself enjoying a Pepsi and pizza of your choice purchased anywhere in the U.S.A. today on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook, and use the hashtag #BetterWithPepsi.
Then, send a text to 81234, start your message off with “PEPSIANDPIZZA” and upload your receipt. Pepsi will reimburse you for up to $3.00 via PayPal, Venmo, or Digital Retailer Gift Card.
The good news doesn't stop there: if you use DoorDash to deliver your pizza order of $15.00 or more, and purchase with a Pepsi, you'll unlock $5 off your order.
Just call me the bearer of great news because The Pepsi-Roni Pizza will also follow its New York debut with select rollouts in a handful of other popular pizza markets around the country – stay tuned for more details coming soon.
