Jason Momoa has been in Italy filming Universal Studios' Fast X, but now the actor is saying sorry to his fans and the people of Italy after he took videos inside of the Sistine Chapel.

Earlier this week, the 42-year-old actor took shared some photos and videos on Instagram of himself admiring the artwork inside the sacred Sistine Chapel. However, photography is typically off-limits as the camera's flash can harm the artwork.

Momoa captioned his Instagram post: “I LOVE YOU ITALY what a beautiful start to our day off enjoying ROMA” along with several photos of himself with friends and other coworkers from the Fast franchise.

However, fans were not such a big fan of his photos, some even claiming Momoa received special treatment at the Chapel.

One fan commented matter-of-factly on the post, “We, regular people, are not allowed to film inside the Sistine chapel.” Another user typed, “We can’t take pics but ofc celebrities can nothing against Jason (I adore him) but it’s not fair.”

After the social media wave of backlash, Jason issued an apology video exclusively for JustJared.com. While seemingly filming a workout in the gym, Jason addressed the controversy.

In the video, he says, “It’s my last day in Rome and I just love you and Italy...It’s been the time of my life. I’m so happy to be working for Universal and obviously Vin and the whole crew picking me.”

That's when the Sistine Chapel visit comes up, “I just also wanted to say, if you ever felt that I disrespected your culture, it wasn’t my intention,” Momoa explained.
