An Ohio man decided that he was going to give up everything except for beer for Lent this year, but he's doing it for a good cause: to raise money for charity.

Del Hall is the co-owner of Ohio's 16 Lots Brewing Company and he began an all-beer diet back in 2019 over the 40-day Lent fast.

Hall not only lost 40 pounds during the all-beer diet, but he says that he actually felt great during the challenge.

Since that year was such a success, the beer lover decided to make the fast an annual tradition. In 2020, he thought it would be better to add a goal to the challenge by raising money for charity. According to Hall's GoFundMe page from 2020 during the pandemic, as he lost 50 pounds, he gained $10,000 for a charity.

Many have asked what the man's health must be like over the 40 days, to which Hall clarified that he consulted with his doctor about the choice. According to Hall, she said, 'You're an idiot if you do this,' but she knows how strong-willed I am," Hall said. "Once she knew I was determined to see this through, she recommended I take multi-vitamins, stay hydrated, and she told me not to do anything stupid."

Hall says that he will also drink water to stay hydrated, but all of his calories will come from beer.

For this year's challenge, Hall is raising money for the Ken Anderson Alliance, which is a nonprofit organization that helps adults with disabilities find work and other opportunities.

Hall says the cause is personal to him, and according to the donation website, Hall has a daughter with special needs and saw this as "a great opportunity to conduct his fast while supporting KAA."
