Would you believe that a pair of lizards stowed away in a suitcase and traveled 4,500 miles from Florida to England? Well, it's unbelievable, but it's true!
A British family contacted animal rescuers in Lindsay, Lincolnshire, England after returning from a family trip to Orlando, Florida when they discovered that a pair of stowaways had been hiding in their luggage.
Mark Goodlad and his family had just arrived home from a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando when he opened up one of the suitcases to discover 2 anole lizards, one green and one brown lizard.
Goodlad just so happens to be a veterinarian and was able to quickly capture one of the lizards, but explained that he had to chase the other before safely containing it.
That's when Dave Holgate, an RSPCA animal rescue officer, was called to the family's home and took the lizards to a reptile specialist.
"We are grateful to Mark and his family for keeping the pair safe until we were able to collect them. They were lucky they managed to survive such a long journey and then to have chosen a suitcase belonging to a vet who fortunately knew exactly what to do to keep them safe in the meantime," Holgate said.
