WATCH: Florida Man Fishing With Grandson Reel In Two Sniper Rifles In Miami

A Florida man decided to take his grandson magnet fishing in a Miami canal, and it was all fun and games until the two reeled in a couple of unexpected items: sniper rifles.

Duane Smith of Miami-Dade County said he taught himself about magnet fishing from a YouTube video, which is the practice of casting a line with a magnet into the water. He decided to give it a try with his 11-year-old grandson, Allen, in a Miami-Dade County canal.

They used a 5-pound magnet to cast their line into the C-102 canal, and after approximately 5 minutes, they pulled up a Barrett .50-caliber sniper rifle. Only moments later, they would pull up yet another identical rifle.

According to Smith, both guns had their serial numbers filed off and were missing their barrels.

Miami-Dade County Police Detective Christopher Thomas said officials will perform a series of tests to determine whether the guns were used in any crimes.
