It's a new weekly feature on-air and online, called "Legally Speaking" with Michelle Suskauer, a Board Certified criminal trial attorney for well over 20 years and a past president of the Palm Beach County Bar Association.
You'll hear this on The Morning Rush each Friday morning and get more information and audio here on WJNO.com.
Monday is St. Patrick's Day, which means parties all weekend. For folks who partake in too much alcohol, they won't be feeling the so-called "luck of the Irish".
Longtime local defense attorney and former President of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, Michelle Suskauer, says obey those traffic laws if you're on the roads this weekend, or you could wind up having to prove that you're not drunk.
"How many green beers does it take to get you over the legal limit? You'd be surprised that it doesn't take as much as you think to get you over the .08, which is the legal limit in Florida and most states across the country."
Suskauer tells us police will be looking for drunk drivers and you don't want to give them any reason to believe you are one.
"It's realistic to assume that if you're out late at night, especially on St. Patrick's Day, you've been in a bar, whether you've been drinking or not, if you're in a bar you're going to be smelling like alchol. If you're stopped, you have to expect that there may be a question as to whether or not you're driving under the influence."
Stay safe this weekend. AAA has its Tow to Go program in effect. Click Here for more on that.
